    Torchwood: Children of Earth (Spoilers)

Re: Torchwood: Children of Earth (Spoliers) Well, that was a pretty disturbing hour of television to end on, but they did not mess up the ending. The whole thing felt less like cheesy Torchwood and more like those shocking old programs the beeb used to do, like Threads.

    Torchwood: Children of Earth (Spoilers)

Re: Torchwood: Children of Earth (Spoliers) Probably for different reasons to you Dave, but yeah, quite. I found the cabinet discussions about numbers to be horribly disturbing.

    Torchwood: Children of Earth (Spoilers)

Re: Torchwood: Children of Earth (Spoliers) The new format works well for me, in fact it reminds me of old Who four parters. The show just feels tighter, the characters are very natural, Gwen especially. This may be having the team down to three, with a strong supporting cast. A mixture of...

    Torchwood: Children of Earth (Spoilers)

    Moon

I loved Sunshine, even the gruesome bits. Event Horizion was efectively a slasher flick in space. Not seen Solaris (original or hollywood remake)

    Moon

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182345/ Directed by Zowie Bowie (aka Duncan Jones), with a tiny budget, minimal cast and no CGI (all effects are minature based !!) i'm looking forward to this. Should hark back to the days of movies like Silent Running and Alien. If anything, it should provide a...

    JMS Leaves "World War Z"

Big shame, his script got massive props. Was probably not seen as marketable by the suits. Hope this is not the start of a trend ...

    Primeval

Yes, that's got to be worth at least the CGI budget of one or two episodes. As for Primeval, I hope they do find a way around it. Christmas specials or DVD movies would be one option, the show still has legs.

Thankfully he wants to do a third, or at least a conculsion ... http://www.philip-glenister.com/footage-ashes3.html The world needs more Gene Hunt. I do agree on Dr Who, if this new Twighlight-style revamp dies, they could easily axe it, although the beeb are a bit less cash-starved than...

    Primeval

I gotta agree with Galahad here. Even though I rarely watched this show, I did enjoy iy and this is a worrying decision. The ratings were sound, and it had strong DVD/ merchandising presence here in the UK. But ITV probably felt that its money was better spent on new reality TV shows trailing...

    What are you watching now?

The Kung-fu film sounds awesome. I've not seen a proper old one in years.

So...what is everybody reading now? (part Deux)

Always meant to read Rama. There is a Arthur C Clarke sized gap in my classif sci-fi knowledge. I've got Crooked Little Vein by Warren Ellis to read. Markas, if you liked Good Omens, Gaimens' American Gods is also a great read. That and some old Hellblazer comics my mate leant me.

Stupidity: Reboot "Buffy The Vampire Slayer"

'Vampire are relevant again'. This had me in stiches. To what exactly ? Other than cashing in on Twighlight. AICN did a job on this, pointing out the similarities to MCG's hack of Spaced.
