In case this hasn't been covered elsewhere already

Re: In case this hasn\'t been covered elsewhere already Are you that sure so soon after your Battlefield Earth thread? ;) If this movie happens, I weep for the future. At least I could look back at the time before the Dark Days, but what about the children born into such a world?

    JMS Interview

One of the reasons I respect him is that he does have a boundary you don't cross. For as public a figure as he has become, and as open as he has been, he has the self respect to keep some things for himself. :) Another reason is his candor. I might find him terribly wrong-headed when it comes...

Crusade on SciFi *Tomorrow*, Movies next month...

Don't you already have the whole series on CD-R?

    S3 DVDs

Yes and no. The important thing, as jms has said, is the work. The interviews, commentaries, and extras are just that: extras. Having that awe-inspiring moment at the end of WWE pt. 2 on DVD is enough for me.

    It really is that bad

Nah, Battlefield Earth (the book) wasn't nonsense. Nothing groundbreaking, it was a fairly fun read in the tradition of the old pulps. I thought the first half was superior to the second, though. As for the movie, I have yet to see it for myself. I do have a morbid curiosity about it...

    Two-headed films

Do that. It's the definitive movie on the subject of Native American demonic tumors. Pretty bad stuff, but in the right frame of mind (watching at midnight and/or proper applications fine malt beverages) it's a blast.

    Ideas

Oddly enough, I probably would not tune into see the telepath war. I have no objection to seeing Pat come back as Lyta or Walter as Bester, but the Telepath arc has been, to me, the least fulfilling one of B5. I disliked much of the first part of Season 5 for just that reason. I'd rather see...

    Kosh Assassination Plot

Not bad at all. The prior Vorlon contact with Lyta thing strikes me as a neat way to explain away some clumsy exposition. It always falls to the true fans to fill the loopholes of their favorite shows/movies/books. ;) Darn, those pesky Vorlons might be even more devious than I thought!

    Children of Dune (NO spoilers)

With Herbert, it really was the ideas more than the presentation.

    I like it!

I know I'm a bit late with this, but I have noticed the faster message board. Nice look and feel. I like it. :)

Doing your part to promote the B5 season 2 DVD

I would imagine that there are no commercials because the fans most likely to buy are also likely to know the release date before WB announces it. ;) The powers that be probably realize that B5 fandom is pretty aware of these things. Commercials would not expand awareness to likely buyers (and...

Which is better -- Stand alone eps or Arc?

American television anyway. Blake's 7 leaps to mind as an example of arc-style storytelling. I was going to say the Prisoner, but I don't know if you could call it an arc driven show. That seems quite it's own animal.

    Children of Dune (spoilers)

Re: Children of Dune I had problems with the first Dune miniseries as well. I think the pacing, at least on night one, was far better. Haven't seen night two yet, but I taped it. I'll tape tonight's episode as well and watch them this weekend. So far I'm pleasantly surprised. :)

G'Kar takes a trip on the Enterprise

Re: G\'Kar takes a trip on the Enterprise Chris Potter played Peter Caine. I always got a chuckle out of that line, too. I recently saw his name connected with the upcoming Wrinkle in Time movie (miniseries?).

    subliminal message?

Spot on. If you can detect it, it ain't subliminal. Leagally speaking, though, it might be defined as X number of frames. Walt Disney apparently was really really sharp when it came to detecting things that most of us would find "subliminal." I hear tell that animators would sneak naughty...

    Regarding Farscape & Antony's "R.I.P." Intro. Page

Re: Regarding Farscape & Antony\'s \"R.I.P.\" Intro. I've been disappointed by quality shows (or heck even mindlessly entertaining ones) falling by the wayside so much. SF television shows that run their natural lifespan are fairly rare. For every series like B5, Buffy, or X-Files, there are...

Sci-Fi Channel continues to hit new lows...

Yeah. Black Scorpion was, well, BS. I'll probably give Tremors a shot, too. The original movie was a pleasant surprise. I'm far more interested in SFC mini-series like Children of Dune and Chronicles of Amber though.

Sci-Fi Channel continues to hit new lows...

I saw the headline for the Sci-Fi suit, but didn't catch the specifics. I've been waiting for this kind of thing, though I was betting on it to happen to Fear Factor first. What won't networks do for ratings? (Aside from show well thought out, quality programming, that is.)

    Direct-to-DVD subscription

I dunno about Fox news being "balanced." They usually don't pretend to be even-handed. I prefer to think of them as "balancing." But back to the ostensible topic of this thread, channe's right on the money about the money. The vast majority of people who watched, say, Crusade, wouldn't pay...
