    Matt Smith Dr Who

I've found two of the three episodes so far pretty weak (there were bits of the second one that I truly enjoyed, but so much about that episode just did not make any kind of sense), but I'm surprised by how much I'm liking 11. I have yet to hear from anyone that liked the new pregnant...

    Futurama news

Another animated series that went bad - that has probably not been mentioned here yet as saying so would be as redundant as saying that the X-Files fell apart - is the Simpsons. I cought two random newer episodes on an airplane a few weeks ago - my god was that bad. It had all the badness of the...

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Chilli Giggling Like a Little Girl

They have a warmup comedian - Paul Mecurio - that starts "warming up" the audience before Jon Stewart himself appears. Then comes Q&A with Jon Stewart. Either all the people asking questions were plants, or the same questions have all been asked a gazillion times before, or Jon Stewart is FAST...

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Chilli Giggling Like a Little Girl

Chilli is currently in the US for the first time in 7 years, and for the first time in ever is in the US without supervision and with some liberty. Today, my cousin, sister and I went to the recording of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He is, in person, even funnier than he is on TV. Recording...

    Star Trek Films Redux

I read an interview with LeVar Burton and Marina Sirtis at some point where they were talking about he guy that directed that movie having no interest at all in Star Trek lore (heh), and kept referring to Geordi as "the alien" throughout the production of the movie. Mind you, I don't really...

    Star Trek Films Redux

That's mostly what bugs me about Star Trek III. Genesis! Or not. Spock is dead! Oh no he's not. Kirk has a son! Oh no he doesn't.

    Star Trek Films Redux

IV >> VI, if you ask me. I used to really like VI, but the last few times I've watched it .. I get the feeling it's not aging nearly as well as II is, for example (which never stops being awesome). Or IV, inspite of the fact that IV is actually set in the 80s. The allegory is a bit thick. I...

    Star Trek Films Redux

Actually, it was Worf - just not the same Worf. Michael Dorn was credited as Colonel Worf for Star Trek VI. It's a case of Generation Xerox. A really, really, really stupid case.

    Dollhouse

I've finished this show at last, and I've got to say .. Joss sure enjoys to All-in-all, I truly enjoyed the first few episodes of the season - there were some pretty cool stand-alone episodes there. But I really couldn't have cared less about the dramatic arc, that became more and more...

    Anyone still watching Lost?

I'm still looking forward to the Richard episode, also if the big question was answered .. simply because that episode could be anything. It could be set in 19th century England, if they'll do the flashback thing again .. but if they stick to the current format (... flash-sideways?), who knows...

    What are you watching now?

Watched this movie last night, and agree with all of this. I also was surprised to see that the score was written by the guy that does the music for Lost, as I've come to quite dislike the Lost scores. I had the same problem with this movie that I had with all the Pixar movies I've seen, though...

    What are you watching now?

The Lone Gunmen, the failed X-Files spin-off mostly known for having an episode centered about a plot aiming to fly an airliner in the the WTC .. in early 2001. I'm actually kind of enjoying it. My desire to smack Langley in the face with a sledgehammer has not waned from when I was watching...

Went to see Avatar a second time yesterday, as the local IMAX decided to show it in English after all, due to the immense demand. And holy shit was that fantastic - I was quite surprised at how much better the 3D worked, considering that the screen wasn't even that big (it's not a very big...

    lost starts in Feb.

I found the BSG (mostly) emotionally satisfying, but completely retarded as soon as I started to think about it in any way. It was a decent episode in and of itself, but considering how much the makers had fucked up the arc at that point, I wasn't expecting them to explain things reasonably ...

Yes, an American will sound like an Australian if he spends enough time among Australians. An American shouldn't sound like an Austrian either, in theory .. but having spent most of my life in Austria, I most certainly do - 100% when speaking German, but to some degree also when speaking...

I think there might have been a throwaway line establishing him as an American, but not more. Another factor is that accents change over time, both on their own and due to external influences. So if we're going to be picky about accents, we'd have to say that any Sci-Fi set a few hundred years...

I didn't have a problem with this. Who's to say he didn't spend extended periods of time in Australia? Loads of people "switch" between accents in real life as Jake Sully did in the movie.

Indeed not. But I do think that this is the first time a movie managed to get millions of people to cheer for the human race getting its ass kicked. I'm most annoyed that the local IMAX is only showing the movie in German. My revulsion with dubbing is too strong for me to stomach it, even for a...
