A Call To Arms was on SciFi tonight...

...And since I got into B5 and Crusade rather late, this was the first time I'd ever seen it. After watching it, I have a totally new impression of Galen's character. Crusade spent so much time making Galen look mysterious that his heavy-handedness in CtA's plot seemed completely out of character. Sure he has a vested interest in Gideon, but he wasn't part of CtA...Why would Galen go so far out of his way to warn Sheridan about the Drakh?

If only the show hadn't been canned...

I watched it last night also and i have to say its a awesome setup for crusade. Makes me wish crusade would continue on sci-fi. Only 1 episode left

I believe galen did not want to see his homeworld destroyed while the technomages just stood by in hiding, so he decided to help against the wishes of the others. Thats why they said he could have outside contact this one time. Then in crusade he makes contact with Gideon which got him banished from the mages for now.

Please sci-fi keep going :)

DS9 and B5. Who would have thought 2 of my fav shows would take place on stations in the middle of nowhere :)

Since Galen couldn't risk involving the techno-mages, he had to find someone else to do it for him. Sheridan was the perfect choice, given his connections (Garibaldi, Lochley, etc) and his ability to pull a force together quickly. Galen couldn't pull in Gideon, as he was waaay out on the Rim. Plus, I don't think Gideon would've had the same clout or access to B5, Excalibur and Victory that Sheridan had. Lochely didn't know Gideon at that point, so unless Lochley had a dream, too, she would've thought that Gideon was nuts (heck, she thought her ex-husband was nuts!)
Though I have to admit, seeing Sheridan, Anderson, and Gideon kick Drakh ass at the same time would've been cool!

HELL YEAH

1-Gideon is seriously one of my fav sci-fi captains and i hope we see him again.
2What else can ya say that already hasnt been said about Sheridan.
3-The guy who plays anderson has played so many great roles in trek and films, i was happy to see him in A Call to Arms. He kicks butt in everything

Tony Todd was great as Captain Anderson. I believe he also played Worf's brother, Kern. I was hoping that Anderson would make it through the film. With Gideon at the helm of the Excalibur and Anderson at the helm of the Victory...oh the possibilities! I liked Gideon ever since I saw him in "War Zone". His attitude is cool and he doesn't take crap from anybody.

btw: Congrats on your 30th post!

I was sure he wouldn't. As soon as I saw him make that call to his wife and daughter, I knew he was a dead man. Nobody who says something like, "I promise to protect you from the monsters", to a little girl ever lives to see the closing credits.

Yes Tony Todd has played Kurn, Old Jake Sisko, a Hirogeon and a lot of other assorted charectors on all the trek shows

Actually that is one of my major pet peeve's about A call to Arms , Anderson talking to his little girl about keeping the monsters away (it sounded so fake or somthing can't put finger on it) also when he's on the bridge and the guns are out and he thinking of ramming the dead cloud and he says to his first officer somthing like " I promised to keep the monsters away to my little girl etc"

I don't know why it just sounded really forced to me or maybe it was a stupid idea the keep away the monsters line's.

Apart from that I really loved the move.

Does anyone know if the Techno-Mage who called Galen to the circle was Blaylock(Blayock? spelling heh)?

Yeah, I knew the call was a dead giveaway, as well as the line about "taking care of the monsters". They might as well put Anderson in a classic Trek "red-shirt" at that point.

But I liked him as a captain, nonetheless.

Might be a good question to ask Jeanne or JMS. That technomage strikes me as someone who might fit the role.

Tony Todd did a terrific job; it's unfortunate that the Victory was destroyed in the battle. It would have been something to *know* that there was another ship like the Excalibur out there, but it is rarely seen. Sort of like the Explorer-class ships which build jumpgates; to see one is considered a rare priviledge.

Someone already has. All Jeanne will say is, "Interesting theory. You'll find out who it was in the trilogy."

I think she's catching it from JMS.

I don't think anyone's asked him yet, but if they do you can bet his answer will be, "Ask Jeanne - they're her books."

LOL

. I know. I was the one who asked her. Yes, she is taking after JMS.

I suppose someone could ask JMS, I mean he created the technomages afterall. I think he wrote the script for "ACtA". He knows...but he's smiling viciously behind that computer screen, along with Jeanne.

Well...only two more months until July, I think I can wait. 'Course I'll probably have even more questions when I read the second book.
