FULL SCREEN?

ARGH!

I was looking forward to buying my Alias DVDs. And, as with most R1 DVDs, dirt cheap!

But what's that... FULL SCREEN? I spit on full screen! Why oh why are widescreen things released in full screen?

This was done with Dark Angel too. The R1 release was fullscreen. The R2 release was mercifully widescreen (although we pay double the price for the privelege, and less extras).

I'm so annoyed!

Isn't Alias a TV show? Isn't it supposed to be full screen?
Unless it was originally broadcast wide, like Enterprise...

I thought Dark Angel was in full screen too when it was on the tv over here. I may be wrong.

Anyways, I hate the option of full screen movies.

Alias is done in high definition 16 by 9 format, with 5.1 dolby digital on the ABC network.

Especially if you have a 16 by 9 TV. I've been watching Alias in HD since the beginning. I can't imagine watching it in 4 by 3 format.

I checked DVD Planet's website and they list Alias Season 1 and Season 2 as being in 16 by 9 (1.78:1) for region 1

Hmm. That's how Amazon listed it originally I think, but changed. And Playcentric says full screen.

Blasted companies.

This is gonna sound silly, but did you double check to make sure there's no option on the disc for wide screen, either on the menus or maybe the discs are double-sided?

I recently saw a great long ad on TCM that explains widescreen, including famous directors and actors explaining its use. I think they're the only TV station that broadcasts films correctly (don't know if you guys across the pond get it).

I absolutely refuse to buy full screen.

Alias S1 was anamorphic widescreen. I know because I bought it and watched it on my 16x9 TV. Fuck the websites, I'm telling you first hand. :p Im sure S2 is the same...

Yeah, Playcentric called up the DVD company for me, as so many sites were in disagreement. They confirmed it was widescreen. But I won't be getting it yet, I'm on desperate money conservation. Maybe later in the year.
