Lost: \"Raised by Another\" (Spoilers)

"Raised by Another" was a good episode, though perhaps not quite as good as some others we've had in the past. It did explain where Claire was coming from and set up next week's episode. So, I guess how good the next episode ends up feeling might have some to do with how good "Raised by Another" ends up feeling in the longrun.

I loved Charlie in this episode! Dom can be so cute sometimes. I loved how much he cared for Claire, especially in light of how the guy who got Claire pregnant ended up treating her.

Hurley's trying to draw up a list of the people remaining from the crash was funny at first, until we got up to his having read over the manifest and realized there was someone he had interviewed that hadn't been on the plane (well, at least not officially on the plane). Hurley's whole telling that his real name is Hugo was pretty funny.

Looks like next week will be an episode with quite a bit of dramaction in it, which, after this more character driven episode, I'm looking forward to.

Re: Lost: \"Raised by Another\" (Spoilers)

I liked this episode too. I like how Claire and Charlie are interacting and how's he's helping her and trying to make her feel better. Now that Ethan guy, wasn't he in the episode two weeks ago as well? I know they introduced two new characters in that episode but I'm not 100 percent sure he was one of them.

Next week's episode looks like it could be one of the best yet. Many peices are starting to fall into place and things are coming together. Looks like there will be a lot of action next week.

Re: Lost: \"Raised by Another\" (Spoilers)

Hmm, I thought last night was pretty big.

We've known a little spoiler for several weeks now, "Claire's baby is connected to the island in some way". We're now alot closer to seeing how. The psychic knew something as soon as he touched Claire for the first time, before she was even showing her pregnancy, almost immediately after she found out. Is it his psychic ability? Or are he and Claire's boyfriend connected? Is it a con job, or is their something going on? We know Danielle is looking for Alex. Is Alex Claire? or Claire's boyfriend? The psychic made Claire get on that specific plane. We've known a mini spoiler for several weeks that someone in the group was not on the plane, from the previews it looks like it's Ethan (Although we all know how previews can often skew things). Yes, Sinclair, Ethan was the guy with Locke in the same episode as the guy with the rash. We know that shortly after arriving on the island, Claire stopped feeling the baby for a day. Was this a normal thing because she's so far along that the baby doesn't kick as much, since it's outgrowing her womb, and maybe it's sleeping while she's awake, and vice versa, or did something happen to the baby after arriving on the island?

We know the "others" control Danielle's transmission now, and that Danielle killed some members of her party because they became "sick" and that there are no monsters, but, hopefully the noises she heard were only one of the bears. What does that all mean? Looks like next week we may get more information on that as well. Is Danielle crazy? I don't think so, I think she's been left alone so long, and had to deal with the "situation" so long, that she just didn't articulate very well what is going on, but, I think she's perfectly sane and knows what she's talking about, and we would too, if we had a bit more information.

In case anyone is wondering, those two small spoilers mentioned are almost all I know about what's coming. I know one other small spoiler

Re: Lost: \"Raised by Another\" (Spoilers)

Oh, and I completely forgot to mention Locke.

The Psychic kept saying over and over again how important it was Claire raise the baby herself, that her goodness would protect it. Locke in the dream, told Claire, "you know what this is about, you knew you shouldn't give up the baby, now we all have to pay the price" (paraphrased). Is Locke in on the whole thing, or just sensitive to the island due to his experiences on it?

Plus the white eye and black eye on Locke? Connecting the Backgammon conversation and the white and black pebbles with "Adam and Eve" and maybe a connection to Black Rock, and possibly to the Polar Bear as well?

Re: Lost: \"Raised by Another\" (Spoilers)

Oh, I had so forgotten about Locke's whole description of backgammon. Sure smells like symbolism setting up something; I can't wait to find out what exactly.

Re: Lost: \"Raised by Another\" (Spoilers)

And how does Watership Down figure into all of this? I personally don't know the story (as much of a sin as they may be).

Is there anything about babies and prophecies, or black/white, good/evil in the book?

Re: Lost: \"Raised by Another\" (Spoilers)

Ethan mysteriously appeared a few weeks back. The actor, William Mapother is Tom Cruise's cousin and has done some film work. Speculation was high from the start that he was not on the plane. We shall see.

I was out last night and set my vcr to tape. Sadly it ran out right at the commercial break after the second psychic reading. I think I missed about 15 minutes. Did I miss any other major points?

Re: Lost: \"Raised by Another\" (Spoilers)

B5O, bummer for you, that your tape ran out, I personally think this was a very big episode.

I think reading the other posts in this thread will pretty much give you the high points of the eipsode (I'm always so engrossed in it, I couldn't tell you what occurred at what time during the episode)

Basically, the Psychic convinced Claire to to get on the plane, claiming he had someone else in mind to adopt her child in LA. Hurley discovered one name wasn't on the Manifest, Sayid returned with injuries on his legs, Claire decided to go back to the beach, and went into what seemed like labor on the way, Charlie ran back to the caves to get Jack, and ran into Ethan and told him to get Jack, then went back to Claire.Ethan looked quite suspicious, and we are led to believe Ethan is the guy kidnapping Claire and the baby. (Don't think there was anything else you might have missed)
