New \"Feature\" on SciFi.com - RangerWear

There is a new "feature" on SciFi about the clothing in B5LR that was just posted today. Here is a direct link to the page for your convenience.

I found it really interesting as I didn't know all the care that had to be taken with G'Kar's costume. Also, the amount of effort and detail JMS gets involved is amazing.

I also recall reading somewhere on the boards a comment about how the colors of the Rangers shirts perhaps denoted rank/role on the ship. Apparantly, that was just thinking too much like Trek because it was not the reason after all.

I was hoping that they wouldn't denote rank or role. That would, indeed, have been too Trekkish.

It seems nice that the Rangers get to "choose" (ok, so the costumer chose for them, but still...)

And I thought that looked like some sort of silk blend. It's a bit too resonant in the pictures to be canvas or something like it.

I liked the comment about "they have to be able to eat lunch".

JMS has obviously paid attention to the criticisms of some of the Trek costumes that don't Fit right because they were designed to Look Good when the actor is Standing, but don't work well when Sitting.

There were a lot of TNG jokes about actors tugging on their uniforms at odd times because they were uncomfortable.
