Season set prices

Does anyone have the slightest idea why the prices for the box sets fluctuate so wildly from country to country? To take the prices from Amazon:

US: $74.99
UK: £41.24 ($67.33)
France: ?37.99 ($44.45)
Germany: ?39.99 ($46.79)
Canada: C$88.05 ($64.85)

As you can see, the prices in America, Canada, and the UK are fairly close, but France and Germany are noticeably cheaper (amazon.co.jp is selling it for Y11,861 or $100, bur that's not suprising).

Any thoughts?

Is the French set a full season or only a half set?

I suspect the French set is a full season. I ordered the German set, which is actually EUR 35 (and I guess EUR 1 is more or less $1, so this set goes for $35). The German set is complete and only differs from the English sets in the German translation of the cover, the print on the DVD and the booklet. The contents of the DVDs is the same (English menus, same languages, extras, etc.). Unfortunately when I received my set, disc 5 was outside of the cover and it was damaged so I had to send it back .
