A Narn in this series

Does anyone know if there will be a narn in this series? One that has read the book of G'Kar and believes he is a religious icon. And follows him around, just to touch His shadow.

I don't think he was very religious, but one Narn I would love to see in Rangers is Ta'Lon. He was such a cool recurring character, too cool to be used as little as he was.

One of my favorite scenes in B5 is the farewell military slatue between Sheridan and Lochley in Objects at Rest, and every time I see Lochley surrounded by the "next generation" of B5'ers, Lt. Corwin, Tessa Holloran, Vir, Zack, Ta'Lon, and Dr. Hobbs, it's always Vir and Ta'Lon's future that I get most curious about. Obivously, much of Vir's future is filled in by other episodes and the Centauri Prime book trilogy, but I'd love to know what happened to Ta'Lon, including how he and Vir "got along" in Council chambers.

Maybe a Ta'Lon-Vir-New Minbari Ambassador trio could have made an interesting cast for a Babylon 5 sitcom. Yeah, okay, maybe not

Well, Joe DeMartino just dashed my hopes to pieces. And here I was all excited at the prospect of seeing another female Narn regularly. And now the possibility exists that that may not happen at all.

Then again, Joe's ALSO given me hope that the Drazi Ranger will bite the dust before Rangers ever goes to series. If so, then thanks, Joe!

I think the more regulars of different races, the better. It would be interesting to see some character development in the Drazi character. They were kind of one-dimensional in B5.

Drazi always seemed like a less intelligent race, as far as communicating.. even in the books I've read, perhaps they're too stupid =)

They came across as almost unbelievably shallow in B5. (That's why I chose "one-dimensional" instead of "two-".) But perhaps that is where JMS will have the most room to grow. I admit that my first thoughts upon seeing G'kar were exactly what JMS wanted them to be. That made the growth even more noticeable, I suppose. To this day, G'kar's character intrigues me more than any other.

well, I think I can honestly say that no one is hoping for developement in the Drazi Ranger than me. That said, I cant imagine any of us need to fret much. It seems to me that the one thing that all the regular alien characters have in common was how prolonged exposure to humans have changed them. Why would it be any different for a Narn and Drazi Ranger serving on a small ship with no others of their kind? How this will effect and change them is the most intriguing question I have about my character, and hopefully the series will be given ample time to answer it.
I must say, it is exciting to see the interest being generated over the Rangers project. Ive enjoyed all of your postings and conjecture (except that lousy specist that has a Drazi grudge...jerk), and Im confident that given the time, this series will meet and perhaps even exceed your lofty expectations.

Sorry about the sloppy tense. I was in a rush. I hope my point got through the bad grammar.

I also wanted to say that simplistic is not the same "one dimesional" or "Shallow". I think the Drazi simply have a more black and white view of their world. It is my contention that if a Cream of the Crop Ranger trained Drazi is confronted with the more greyish issues, drama and developement will ensue.

Remember Drozak! He wasn't one dimensional, he didn't have time to be! He flew his ship into hell, just to break Marcus out of Zagros 7. He then paid the ultimate cost, true he was doing it for his own people, but had he been selfish at heart, he might have jettisoned Marcus just a bit earlier when Marcus advised. He had a noble enough heart to see the job through, and that should be remembered when judging the Drazi race.

I don't know if you could count the Drazi in a call to Arms, shoving data crystals where the sun don't shine is a sacrifice that goes way beyond the call of duty, still it had to be done.

Very good point, that was probably put in the plot to show that the Rangers are diverse, and individuals of all races are brave and willing to sacrifice. It is ironic that the one Drazi we'd like to meet died about 20 seconds into the openning, isn't it? I do look forward to the Rangers, and a chance to see more. It is awfully hard to reconcile that kind of sacrifice with "purple Drazi vs green Drazi". For me, that's where my opinion of the Drazi was really formed. Maybe there will be a revolution of some sort and end all of that by the time the Rangers series is set. I hope so, at least.

Yeah, it does seem like the sucky Drazi get more screen time than the cool ones.

Keep in mind, that Pak'ma'ra have never been very impressive (even the Rangers seem to be sort of "prejudice" of them). However, in SiL, Vir paints a reassuring picture of the Pak'ma'ra, and a Pak'ma'ra is seen being rolled into an infirmary at just the right time during Ivanova's voiceover (I believe when she's talking about how we all have to care for each other).

I think there are some good Drazi (the 2 examples above were the 2 that came to my mind too), and I'm sure there's plenty more out there. Maybe the one in Rangers will be likable too.

Well, he says he is, so if he was lying, you asking him about it wouldn't make any difference. Besides, given the prominence of this board, word will reach the cast pretty quickly and any imposters will be dealt with. So I see no reason not to take him for his word.

In any case... Mr. Lynch... Feel free talk about yourself and your character... Why did you audition for this role? Why do you think you got picked? How did you prepare?

It would be a pretty easy (if completley pointless) lie to pull off, since, according to the Cast info, nothing is known about me. My agent and my mother had a fit over that. Heh heh.

Anyway, I appreciate the invitation to talk about me, but I'll respectfully decline. This is, after all, a thread regarding the Narn Ranger Na'Feel. And if I muscle in on her topic.....well, lets just say Na'Feel can be a bit volatile and territorial and we'll leave it at that. So I think we better get back on track. So........arent female Narns super cool and pretty?

Heh. Lunch. Lynch. This is turning into a rather amusing thread. I wonder how long we can keep it going. And, incidentally, some of you shuld hop over to my thread that starts "the Drazi thing" and offer your input. Its been fun reading your input here and hopefully we can keep both threads going on and on. I don't know what my take it on the Gus L-Y-nch thing. Sometimes it seems that he is the real mckoy and sometimes he really does seem like someone just playing around. I have another point though that might suggest that he really is "A" Gus Lynch playing Tirk. Nobody knows Gus Lynch. If he's not the real thing, why the hell would he decide to pretend to be Gus Lynch??? That's kind of like if I decided to get on the messege boards pretending to be Brian, my next door neighbor. Seems like most of the time when people play these little name games, they pick someone who has some kind of credit to their name. "Hey, if you could be any actor in any science fiction series, who would you be," says Keith. TJ replies, "Well, there's this guy I've never heard of (nor has anyone else)named Gus Lynch. I think that's who I'd like to be."
Heh. It just doesn't make much sense.
Anyway, if you ARE "A" Gus Lynch who has the PRIVILEGE of playing Tirk, could you at least tell us if you are related in any way to David or Kelly?
