B5: LotR Comments and Series ??

I just saw B5: LotR, and I loved it. It will be a shame if the show isn't picked up.
The cursed angle intrigued me far more than I tought itwould be. I'm reaaaly curious to know who betrayed the previous crew of the Liandra.
The VR shooting with Sara needs more work, I think. Less karate and more point and click would be better, I think. Not to put down Myriam's performance, one of the best things on the sow. I realy liked her character (and loved all I got from the actress, by the way).
Another thing I liked was the hand (i.e., the villains). They have the makings of great villains for the early part of Season 1, when it comes about. I came to believe that they are all the characters said them to be, much to my surprise.
And I loved the crew, also. Dylan Neal did a great job creating a captain who's a pal to his crewmembers. The way he did it, I don't remember seeing before. Kirk was the authority figure, Picard was the father figure, I guess. Sinclair was the diplomat, and Sheridan was the brash, stubborn champion. Martel was the first to approach the job as a team effort. I liked it.
Overall, I'm gradding this film A-

On the religion/ mithology part of the discussion: yes, JMS is the atheist every religion needs. And Parliament of Dreams, and it's las scene - these went a long way to hook me on B5, back then.
And putting mithology in SF is a time-honored tradition. At the very worst, that way this huge part of our culture as a race isn't forgoten. At the best, it gives us new insights on our cultural heritage, not to mention who we are and what do we want

Man, I could so get into this, but I'm not going to because that would completely de-rail this thread, and I'm a nice guy.

Suffice it to say, this isn't really true.

Yea, just point him to the good old Religion/Evolution thread in the Off-Topic lounge. That should tide him over for a bit huh?

Sinclair was the Leader.
He said "Follow ME" and people Did.

Sheridan was the Politician/Manger.
He figured out people's want's, needs and "hot buttons" and Persuaded them to do what he needed done.

What Martel will become, we don't Know.
I doubt it will be too "buddy buddy".
Command doesn't work that way and JMS knows it doesn't from his own experience of Being the Boss.
Being the Boss tends to isolate the Boss from everyone else and, while many bosses work to minimize the isolation, some part of it will Always be there.
The awareness that, when Push comes to Shove, the Boss has the final word guarantees it.

Do not ascribe your own motivations to others:
At best, it will break your heart.
At worst, it will get you dead."

The same goes for people who claim science is a religion, its wrong. The methodologies are completely different. Something is not true until it is proven true. Atheisim is not a belief.
