Blalock Blasts 'Enterprise' Executives

Re: Blalock Blasts \'Enterprise\' Executives

Blalock sounds like she had respect for the franchise, above and beyond her own needs. Quite refreshing for an ex-model.

Beltran just came across as a whinger.

Re: Blalock Blasts \'Enterprise\' Executives

Perhaps Beltran's real mistake was in not making his complaints soon enough.

Sorry, but Voyager was mostly crap. It kills me to think this, I so wanted the first female captain series to be a success. And the crew they started with made the premise intensely interesting. Star Fleet and the Maquis (an illegal group basically).

They threw it in the gutter. This is why I probably have never really cared much about Enterprise. With the same team, it's going to be something I won't like.

Unfortunately, now that it might be changing it is almost certainly doomed.

Fine with me.

Make room for B5. :D

While there were isolated episodes of Voyager that I enjoyed, the overall storyline was rather sad (and not in a pulling at my heartstrings emotional way but in a rather pathetic way). As you said hyp, I had originally been really interested to see what I was expecting to be a big clash of cultures between the Starfleet crew and the Maquis crew, however, with the exception of the one character Seska and a couple of isolated meaningless episodes (that I guess in the eyes of the show's producers really dealt with the issue despite the fact that they really didn't) the two crews just too seemlessly blended into one.

I had also been one that was eagerly looking forward to Kes's rapid aging and dying at the end of the series. There was major potential there for big emotion. But they couldn't keep her around. Were they really too stupid to come up with some interesting things for Kes to do in the meantime? *sigh*

Re: Blalock Blasts \'Enterprise\' Executives

Vacantlook: yes.

The answer to your question is : yes.

They were too dumb to write well for all of the interesting characters. Most of the time, IMHO.

A truer word was never spoken.

Agreed! And yet it is coming out on DVD, and I'm still  waiting for:

Brimstone
Strange Luck
The Ellen Show (2nd show)
and
Special Unit 2.

Re: Blalock Blasts \'Enterprise\' Executives

You'll probably get all of those eventually. I see more and more obscure shows released on DVD each week.

Re: Blalock Blasts \'Enterprise\' Executives

I keep waiting for a Region 1 "Blakes 7". I'm wondering if it will ever come out on DVD in this region. :(

Ditto. Might have to give in and buy a region free DVD player.

I also would kill to get Space Above and Beyond, which was one of the best SF shows made and was never allowed to grow. (Thanks FOX!)

I also really want American Gothic on DVD as well. I mean when they put out Buck Rogers, the entire series, on DVD (with absolutey no special features at a price higher than SG-1 which is packed with features and commentary on every ep!), then these series should be released and ASAP!

Re: Blalock Blasts \'Enterprise\' Executives

I would'nt be suprised if older shows were easier to put out, due to rights issues. But i could be wrong.

I would love to see Space Above and Beyond and American Gothic.

Sci-fi box sets are a real money spinner for studios. They know they can put them out at minimal cost (2-3 token extras) and make a lot of profit.. Then do it all again in two years time on Blu-ray or HD-DVD.
