Bond 22: Quantum of Solace

The title for the new Bond film has been released.

Anyone else think that's a mondo weird title?

Craig said the cryptic title referenced how Bond's heart had been broken at the end of Casino Royale.

"Ian Fleming had written about relationships," he explained.
"When they go wrong, when there's nothing left, when the spark has gone, when the fire's gone out, there's no quantum of solace.

"And at the end of the last movie, Bond has the love of his life taken away from him and he never got that quantum of solace."

Craig said the new film would follow 007 as he goes out "to find the guy who's responsible".

"So he's looking for revenge, you know, to make himself happy with the world again.

"But the title also alludes to something else in the film," he added.​

It sounds a bit too overly arty.​

From what I've heard, the plot is more likely based upon Risico.

I wasn't making any plot presumptions. I just thought the name sounded strange. I'm looking forward to it myself.

Yeah, I saw your facebook. I agree, its a bit black and white student film for my tastes, but it does have a link to the Bond heritage...

I couldn't give a rip about the title -- I just hope the story & production are as good as Casino Royale.

The name made me go "zuh?" at first, and I thought it was a hoax - it just seemed way to "out there" to be true. When thinking about it, though .. I don't quite know why.

Either way, I'm with LH and all the others on this one. As long as it's a proper followup on Casino Royal, I'd go and see it if it no matter what it's called.

A quick check on wikipedia reveals the director to be knew, but the screenwriters to be the same people. That's definitely encouraging.

I read it earlier and didn't get it. Seeing it again tonight it made more sense. It probably has to sink in.

I remember "Attack of the Clones" was really trashed, and people wanted it to change... yet it became what we were used to and no one gives it a second thought now.

I still laugh every time I hear that title, but I suppose that has nothing to do with the title itself.

The Bond 22 part was known for some time, which I thought was odd but figured there would be an explanation in the movie somewhere. The second part is new, but as others said, who cares as long as its as good as Casino Royale.
