It appears that Columbia House suddenly has NO knowlege of B5 being released on DVD as a TV Greats Club. Even though I talked to them last week and they told me that it was definitely going to be released as a TV Greats Club on DVD and they were even able to give me some other details about it (running time-4 episodes), none of the three different customer service representatives from Columbia House that I spoke with this afternoon had ANY information about B5 being released on DVD today or even about it being released at all. It was also not listed on their website. Does anybody have any more information? I don't think that I was dreaming or hallucinating when I spoke with a customer service representative at Columbia House towards the end of last week when they told me to call back today. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Maybe they've been mind-wiped? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Impossible. A mind-wipe requires a mind. See my post above. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sounds like the usual Columbia House run-around. The right hand rarely knows what the left-hand is doing over there,

You just described Warner Brothers and Warner Home Video. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I've called them and have personally got the run-around. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

... and they often "offer" products to gauge public interest, then drop the idea if they don't get a big enough response."

They should preface that by "If we get enough orders, we'll come out with {fill in the blank}.

When they were in the middle of their VHS release I considered buying some of the tapes that were already out in one shot - not signing up for the subscription and not waiting a month or more betwen tapes.
I almost did this for TNG. Could save a lot of money on shipping that way. Instead I cancelled my subscription, and sold my TNG tapes.

I got different information about how to do this (or even if it could be done) every single time I called them. At one point I was told that as a member of the regular CH Video Club (which I still was back then) I could order any product I wanted provided I had the catalog number. But when I called their Classic TV customer service center to get the catalog numbers, I made little progress. (One rep even denied that they were releasing Babylon 5 on VHS.)
Yeah, at this point you have to wonder if anybody there knows what the heck they're talking about. It's frustrating, but it happens almost everywhere. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Our posts crossed in the wires. How about death of personality, not just a wipe of a specified area (e.g. Sinclair's missing day, all B5 DVD Product Info.)? No, that wouldn't work either. They'd have to have a personality first. Oh well. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Just to prove i'm not crazy or stupid or both...
Columbia House
If you scroll down a little they have b5 mentioned. It's part of their tv greats website right next to wonder woman. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Columbia House Update-10/22/02

Hi,
I called yesterday and found out that they had not received the disks as of yet. I could order it by giving them my credit card and they(CH) would back-order the product. I declined their suggestion.

They are DVD. I specifically asked.
The ones jnk5y referred to, the ones on the web page, next to Wonder Woman, are not the DVDs. They are the VHS tapes that Columbia House has been selling since (I think) the autumn of 1998. Kosh's reply was to jnk5y's post, not to one of yours.

Re: Columbia House Update-10/22/02

Hi,
I saw an ad in the latest issue of TV Guide for the Columbia House DVD release.

Re: Columbia House Update-10/22/02

Did it give any release date? I've been going back and forth with them about this particular topic for the last few days. Nobody really seems to know anything but I don't know if that's because they're not going to release it or if the people answering the phones just don't know something that somebody else does but SOMEBODY over there personally confirmed to me that they would be releasing B5 on DVD. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Actually, I suspect that they probably won't release it until the box set is released. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
