Beyond the rim
Hi Friends,
Just wanted to say hello. I found this site today and am very pleased! Nice to see you all here.

I haven't read all the threads yet but noticed someone commented on the poor

LotR abbreviation some people have been using.

On the boards I post at most folks are calling it "Rangers" as an abbreviation since LotR is Lord of the Rings.

Any ideas? Comments?

(gosh I hope we can edit at this board in case I made any big gaffes with my 1st post)

Hi all!
This too is my first post here.

As far as the abbr. issue, I think we ought to simply use B5LR.
What does everyone else think?

B5-Rangers, B5/LR, no matter as long as we don't get accused of 'stealing'LOTR...

The avalance has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote.

The one that some of us have adopted is:

Rangers as the short name
B5LR as the acronym.

I am of course going to want to encourage B5LR, as my domain name is that.

But I think we really shouldn't use LOTR, and lead by example.

That's B5LR.com's stance... so I encourage everyone to use that!!

Rangers for a short name, B5LR as an acronym!

And tell your friends too!

Rest assured I'll be using B5LR. Just out of curiosity, what acronym is JMS currently using for it?

You name it, sooner or later, everyone comes to Babylon 5.

He usually calls it Rangers I believe.

Here is a JMS post from yesterday, Apr 18:

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, arial">quote:</font><HR>"...a B5 TV movie that will almost certainly go to a series on SFC, and the Rising Stars feature film in addition to a bunch of other stuff. And it's all fresh, with energy, there's fun there, and I think Rangers will have the fun and energy and
cool stuff that is emblematic of B5."<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Yep, I've only seen him call it Rangers. If he called it something else, I'd go into one and probably change the name of the site. If he called it B5LR, I'd tell any person off furiously for using LOTR or some such. But now I'm being kept in check neutrally.

Rangers is a cool short name, but shows also need acroynms... just one of those things. I've not known a show not to have an acronym.
