Has anyone thought of this?

With all of this talk about the Valen's speed, it seems to be the king of unrealized potential. The Liandra never seemed to have trouble keeping up with it, and the Valen never semed to be moving very fast, even when they had reason to get the hell out of there.

Think back to when we saw the Valen with all the engine ports brightly lit in normal space. How fast does it look like it's moving to you?

Also, in hyperspace, does nobody watch their six?

Well, I figure that, if the Valen had survived, the Council would be asking that same question.

My own opinion: The Valen's crew was feeling Cocky and Invulnerable.
They had the Newest, Bigest, Badest Ship out there.
They were ready to "spit into the wind" and "Tug on Superman's cape".
What they weren't doing was keeping a good Watch.
After all, when you're Big and Bad, you don't have to watch out for Nobody.
