Interviews on B5 scrolls

I'm sure the site owner has been here before to mention this recently, but I just finished reading them fully ...

Navigation is a bit interesting, but the richness of information here is fantastic, with some really great research into the work done by the other guys behind B5, the designers (and some hard earned recognition as well, to be honest).

Also, the ships section now shows behind the scenes information on each design, which is really neat. I think this is the B5 tech/ designers book we are never going to see. Want an example? how about this way cool idea for a shadow-hybrid fighter by Crusade designer Tim Earle:

And another from Luc Mayrand !

I've also noticed on firstones that the author has done an interview with our old chum M. Sprange from Mongoose. They are all on seperate pages, linked too from this Firstones thread.

It makes interesting reading. If true. The interviewer makes it clear that he has no agenda, and I would tend to agree. Sprange obviously got burnt, and does admit he could have handled thing better. Either way, I can see why Mongoose are giving this up. Fear the wrath of Joe, etc.

Interesting reading, and my personal special thanks :)D) to the site owner for doing the hard work here.

(EDIT: Tim Earles has his own site, up here:

Thanks.

The sites a very long term, ongoing, hobby that’s slowly fleshing out.

The reason for contacting Mathew Sprange was that the site has evolved rather than being planned out and I started contacting people on related B5 subjects that I’d seen fans discussing. Another is Jack Nichols who worked on the abandoned Sierra game.

Spoken to the likes of Wayne Barlow amongst others as well, and as I get time I’ll add the various bits and pieces.

I started it as a simple exercise to learn a bit about web design, the subject of B5 was a suggestion from a friend and that’s when I ‘discovered’ the on-line fan community. (still don't browse the net much) I’ve tried to keep it readable for newbies (as at the time of starting it that’s what I was), as well as *try* and include content that the old guard amongst the on-line fans might find interesting. Only time will tell if it’s any good.

I thought it was you ! Please keep going, I'm loving it.

As a suggestion, the ship sections are great, but how about a whole bit on the conception of the B5 station itself ? You could go into set design, layout etc, as well as the CGI and physics stuff. You are doing great reviews and research, the station would benefit from this.

It might be possible to focus on the station a bit more. To be honest never thought of doing something like that. Haven’t spoken to John I yet, not sure if I can. . . . . Maybe, won’t be for a while though.

I'm sure it takes a lot of time. For what its worth, your content is already of interest, far more so than a load of fan encylopedia sites with made-up statistics about ships capability.
