New Dr Who leaked...(possibly spoilers)

Downloaded and watched the first ep. I don't want to spoil anything, but I have to say, I hope this is not the overall "feel" and style of the entire 13 eps. If it is, I can understand why Sci-Fi passed.

Let me put it this way...loved the new Doctor, loved Rose. Story was practically non-existant, character development was rushed, continuity was pretty-much ignored (which I thought he was going to be very true to from what he said), threads to making the Doctor feel like a newer version of an old character were passed over (when they should've been taken extreme advantage of), and lastly, and my biggest problem of all really...what's up the the Power Rangers moments?! Silly, childish, horrid sound FX and corny VFX and talking down to the audience (which the Dr. Who never did in the past).

The one thing Dr. Who always had going for it when it had no money for FX was great storytelling, wonderful writing and intriguing and fun characters.

The boyfriend character was stupid, the Nestene was not in line with continuity, but I did like Eccleston and Rose.

I will reserve full judgement until I've seen more eps. But for a premiere I was left badly wanting...and more than a bit concerned.

Dude, its a reboot. Continutiy takes a rain check. I also think the web leak was a pre production version, It certainly does not have the new theme music they are trailering in the UK, which is much meatier.

The boyfriend was supposed to be stupid. South London is full of people like that, i know, i live there!!!

Effects were cheesy on purpose, its Dr Who FCS. The Autions were supposed to look amusing, even the characters though so until they got shot in the head!!

He's aiming it a British Saturday evening tea time crowd, the same audience that the

If fanboys love it then great, if not, then it should start a new genreation of fans. Its written by a man who lives and breathes Who. I think its in good hands.

I laughed and smiled throughout. I got a real kick out of seeing aliens attacking where I live and work!

This, first of all, is not a reboot. A reboot is a complete re-invisionment of a universe or story, beginning it again from the beginning. This is the next doctor in the same universe, so continuity applies.

Doctor Who is best when it at least tries to remain true to it's continuity, though is has never been one to abide by it to the letter. It is worst when it ignores it completely (like the second time we ran into Omega with Davison and neither of them seemed to remember the last time they'd met -- that was a mistake).

As for the FX, the old ones were cheesy because they had no money and did the best they could while still keeping their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks. This time the FX were actually good, but done cheesy on purpose..actually not cheesy, silly. It came across like a Power Rangers moment and didn't help IMO.

The story was very rushed and I hope that they aren't all like that. I want more threads to the past, yes, but overall, what I want from this incarnation of Doctor Who is the magic and fun and feel of the first four Doctors (which Davies said he wanted to bring back).

I will reserve judgement until I've seen more...and I do like the new Doctor and Rose. I just hope they slow down a bit, tell stories so they don't feel rushed and like we've missed the best parts and the good conversational dialogue that the Doctor was always good at.

Don't exchange substance for flashy editing.

And you from across the pond, I want you to all realize one thing right here and now...darth_librarian... NO ONE wants to see a new Doctor Who series and see it succeed and be great more than I do! But I will not accept and excuse less just to have it.

I am cheering this on more than you know. I'm telling you what didn't work. I hope they fix it.

Nope. Bittorrent is wrong, but your friend.

As it is not showing in your country, or not even picked up or announced by a network, then it may put you in a gray area morally, but i'm sure others will disagree. Legally it is a no no.
