To all those who say that A copied from B or B copied from A:
Are you so far removed that anytime two elements come up with a great idea, you have to think is was stolen?
I'm not talking about general arcs. We know Paramount had acces to JMS outline and Bible. So we damn well know where the similarities in the arcs come from.
I'm talking about stuff contained in episdoes, or general things set within the universe of the show. Oooh, one race is a copy of another. Oooh, they stole the hyperspace idea, or they stole the idea of something being set on a station.
Granted, maybe some stuff was stolen. But,as for the rest, you know what? Coincidences happen. Regardless of studio execs, there are some great science fiction writers out there who come up with great ideas. Who's to say that two can't coincidentally come up with the same idea? Haven't you ever had a great idea, and then one day find out that somebody has the same one! Sure you have. I don't about you, but if coincidences didn't happen with great ideas, I sure would lose any faith I had in humanity.
Even if they did steal from each other. Give it a rest. If you like the shows, then so be it. Just enjoy. If you don't like another show, don't go nitpicking and badmouthing it just cause you don't like it. Even if they did steal from each other, it happens, and it will always happen. As much as we hate it, entertainment has been turned into a business, and the business men do all they can to make their money. If you don't like the way it works, then you go become one and change things up!
The writers are just trying tell great stories. Don't get distracted with all the crap the execs cause. Just enjoy the stories for what they are

We're all born as molecules in the hearts of a billion stars, molecules that do not understand politics, policies and differences. In a billion years we, foolish molecules forget who we are and where we came from. Desperate acts of ego. We give ourselves names, fight over lines on maps. And pretend our light is better than everyone else's. The flame reminds us of the piece of those stars that live inside us. A spark that tells us: you should know better. The flame also reminds us that life is precious, as each flame is unique. When it goes out, it's gone forever. And there will never be another quite like it
