OK Listen Up...

It wasn't the Taste of the American Public Ed Wood underestimated. (BTW, you do have the right person)

Ed Wood couldn't string together a coherent sequence of film frames. Even Porn watchers demand that the scenes have some sort of coherence or organization to them.

Besides, Ed Wood never Had any money to go broke With.
He kept finding suckers to finance his debacles.
Like "Plan Nine". The guy with his arm covering his face in all the shots that wupposed to be Bela Lugosi were actually the Dentist who allowed himself to be conned into financing part of the movie.
Because Lugosi had Died before Wood started filming.
The only scenes that Lugosi really appeared in were from stuff Wood filmed while tring to create a Documentary about Lugosi.
He stuck them in Plan Nine just so he could put Lugosi's name in the credits.
The Dentist got the part because his forehead looked vaguely like Lugosi's.

Yeah, I think that's the guy.

Plan 9 was pretty bad, but I thought "the Tingler" starring Vincent Price was worse.

Not by much, mind you.

I just wish we had seen more Rangers reviews by people who didn't have an agenda going in.

Okay... so... Anyone who dislikes Rangers is a B5 hater and simply *must* have an agenda? It couldn't just be that those reviewers were disappointed in the end product - and keep in mind, Joe's written far more important scripts in a much shorter time.

Heck, since everyone is keen on this whole, "but he only had two weeks to write it" *excuse* - and that is what it is steadily becoming - let's put things in perspective.

Rangers is the idea Joe originally wanted to do as a series after B5 - not what eventually became Crusade. Joe has had 2 years to tinker with and perfect Rangers as a concept.

If it fails to meet expectations in anyone's eyes, it is not because "Joe only had 2 weeks".

No, it is because it was a bad script, or a poorly developed concept.

Some people will love it, some people will like it, some will dismiss it, and some will hate it. That is the nature of entertainment.

Regardless, a large share of whatever praise people seek to heap upon Joe if they love the end product must also equate to blame placed squarely on his shoulders if someone hates it.

Joe has chosen to be Svengali to his creation - both credit and blame are his, and his alone.

BTW - I'm a B5 lover and I literally can't stand Rangers. I must have a confused agenda, eh?

Because one big part of that report was that this spin-off would take place in 2262, either running in place of or alongside B5 season 5, and it'll be interesting to see how Legend of the Rangers fits into that timeframe. <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, arial">quote:</font><HR>BTW - I'm a B5 lover and I literally can't stand Rangers. It's someone who claimed inside knowledge, and made no attempt to back up those claims when they were shot into itsy bitsy little pieces by Real Actual Facts.

As such, your credibility ain't all that high as far as I'm concerned.

Perhaps not a confused agenda, although you may be a bit confused. I mean, why are you here? What is it you're trying to accomplish?

You worte a negative review. Fine. And you stand by it. Admirable. But why then come on here and do your best to put a harsh on our collective mellow?

I think I can speak for the rest of the members of this community when I say that we are excited to see Rangers. We've been waiting a long time for it. So why poke your malicious little mug in here and try to convince us to hate it when none of us have seen it yet?

You'll probably justify it by saying, "Well, I had to DEFEND myself against the viscious posters here talking smack about me."
Or some such rubbish.

And thats all bull. YOu wrote your review. Your function is done. Try standing by your review as written with some quiet dignity instead of being so argumentative and inflammatory.

Oh, but I guess if you did that we might forget you exist, and we couldnt have that could we Miss Clutch?

No. Because if we forgot you exist, we might start to ignore other critics, and before you know it, we'll all realize that we never needed critics in the first place.

Were any of us waiting to see what Tobias thought before decidng if we wanted to see TLaDiS? I thought not.
I'll go out on a limb and guess that we won't need his help deciding wether or not we liked it as well.
You are the definition of superflous negativity Miss Clutch, and your insistence on stirring up the hornet's nest around here has vaulted you beyond your just-another-bitter-critic status. You are now a pain in the neck jerk.

Mankind took a giant step forward when he first created art. Unfortunatley, it was followed by a big bunny hop backwards shortly thereafter with the appearence of the first critic.

So please please please GO AWAY until the 20th. Im sure we can all debate much more effectivley then, and we'll see if youre up to the challenge when we've all seen the film.

Until then everything youre saying amounts to critical bullying.

Wow. My first post. I'll go back to lurking now.

Hey, I took a nap today figuring it might increase the odds that I'll still be awake by 10pm. Stupid late feed! If this were live, (I'm in Arizona) I'd get to see Rangers in half an hour.

I know, I know, I can't complain. At least I'll see it today.

Btw, Tobias, you haven't been paying attention to all my posts about the reviews. I only hate them if someone spends the whole time trashing B5. If they just review it, like the Hollywood Reporter did (& it wasn't 100% positive), I'll accept it.

"Miss" Clutch? Did I miss something?

And by the way - I never reviewed Rangers.

Commented on, yes, but I have not written a review.

I have a pretty simple opinion of critics: I pity them. I have never payed attention to anything movie, book, or TV critics say, because they are just one opinion, and I am pretty sure they don't have the same tastes as me. Heck usually when a critic doesn't like something that means it is right up my alley!
smile.gif

Why do I pity them? Because they can't possibly watch something and simply ENJOY it. Being a critic is almost a science. They have to look something, take it apart. Disect the dialogue, the POV's of the camera, the effects, and analize something bit by bit until they come to their 'educated' conclusion. This to me is a very depressing thing. I love my ignorance in what may be a 'poorly shot scene.' I may never know why it was poorly shot, or why the dialogue was weak in a particular act. I can watch something and enjoy it because it touches me emotionally, or is exciting to watch, or simply just kicks ass. Critics can never do this, and that is why I pity them

Oh, so we *amuse* you, huh? Well, why don't you just go jump off the nearest pier, okay? I am so sick of people like you! I'm sorry to be so angry here, but I am valuing my B5 experience more these days ever since I found out that a friend who likes B5 is in poor health! So I *really* have no tolerance for negative jerks right now. Go laugh at someone else, okay?

You ever heard the expression "small things please small minds"????

Well I reckon old Toby Jug, likes to think he has a big mind. Thats why he claims amusement at people posting here. Seeing something that potentially could be big, and being having a crack at people who are actively involved or are supporting that, is showing a clear lack of respect and intelligence.

Back when I was a kid in Sunday School, Father Minkowski once said: "Given the crucifixion was a terrible thing for anyone to endure, if you could go back in time 2200 years, would you prevent the crucifixion of Christ?" Well after a heated debate, we all agreed the answer was no. The crucifixion was necessary to redeem the world. - Lt. John Matheson "The Needs of Earth"

Well, this certainly did go another direction!
I am going to reply to the original person who started this, namely, Dylan. AFter seeing the movie.

Congratulations Dylan! Excellent job! I have had some theater experience and stage experience as well as paying attention to what people say behind the cameras and backstage.
You all did as well a job as I could expect from a company of strangers.
That is not harsh nor derogatory, it's a compliment that all of you fell into place so quickly. I'll have an actual 'review' on another post, but wanted to take this one personal.
I've never seen any of your other work so you're a new face to me as are the rest of the cast (except Andreas of course, he's a piece isn't he?)
Also Myriam and all the rest filled my expectations of a B5 movie. In my book this is third of five on my list of favorite movies from B5. Not a bad track record.
I do hope to see it go to series and see all of you develop your skills and talents and characters within this universe.
I have computer problems and can't get to the interviews so here's my questions:

Myriam: I can tell the battle scenes were exhausting! How in shape were you before you went to production? Geez! (Personal note: I didn't like the concept of the weapons system, but what the heck it cerainly was different for me!)
Dylan: YOu did some martial arts also, any prior experience or did you get all your training during production?

I do hope to see you all at some cons in the future. Have any of you gotten invitations yet?
My personal quirk as a fan is being able to meet an actor or production member face to face and see them just for a few minutes as real people, let them know my thoughts on their work(like that matters) and thank them personally for their effort.
Sidenote..I do that for teachers, retail people and other service people that don't get thanked enough. Actors and production people can get awards, but how often do they get someone face to face thanking them for a job well done?

I kept thinking Dylan that you looked familiar and realized you resemble another actor...whos name escapes me, crikey! He was in Dumbo Drop and Corrina Corrina...dangfangle it!
That may be one reason why I felt comfortable watching, a bit familiar and yet new.

Well enough rambling here...thank you again for a fine job everyone.

And as I posted somewhere else, watch Learning Curve from Season 5. It deals very well with the idea of pursuing something to the fullest extent of your heart, no matter what the outcome may be.
