Then why do the anla'shok and minbari believe that they will return again? I mean JMS put it in there so there is a chance for it happening unless it's one of these open ended questions similar to will Jesus return to the Earth or will King Arthur return from Avalon.

Because, as you will see if you watch "Sleeping in Light" carefully, Sheridan set up the idea to create an "Arthurian" type mystery about his death.
That's why he went off alone to die.
Creating a legend of that sort was a way to make Delenn's job easier after he was gone.

Valen almost certainly did the same thing when He evaded the Anala'Shok and "disappeared" himself 1000 years earlier.

Legends are powerful things.
Something both Sinclair/Valen and Sheridan were well aware of.

Some of the first ones just got bored after millions of years, and went off in general. The rest, for the most part, went beyond the Rim for the same reason you cut down old trees to make room for new ones.

I agree with Bakana, but would add that the Minbari believe in reincarnation of souls, and since they don't know that Sheridan went beyond the rim, where presumably his soul resides, they would expect him to return via reincarnation.

Ok, my theory on Valen/Sinclair was he was in a sort of loop... that his soul was forever destined to be reborn into Jeff Sinclair who returns to the past as Valen, dies, his soul is reborn...
