Some B5-Galactica Similarities

Alluveal you ask how can we compare other series to Babylon 5 ? B5 is and should be the Gold standard by which all science fiction shows should be measured by, Whether is BSG, DS9, Firefly or Stargate SG1 Dr Who Xfiles or Torchwood.. The standard of excellence that B5 achieved should be the bench mark for all science fiction shows to come as well. Its that simple.

Maneth For the most part I can agree with that statement with regard to BSG the show though not without its flaws, it has come closest in all of science fiction to that level that B5 has attained, and that is a good sign for science fiction. There are out there a few of so called experts that dismiss what BSG has achieved and dismiss our opinions because they don't meet certain unrealistic criteria that they set to determine worthiness or excellence, they whoever they are are entitled to their opinions as we who like the show are equally entitled to ours.

I think that the reason that people compare the two series is simply put, they both make people think, and thats,important. In both shows we see that nothing is as it seems, not the unfolding events nor the people involved in them. In both shows heroes and villians under the right circumstance can change places, there is no the guys wearing white hats and the bad guys wearing the blacks, in both series everyone wears gray hats, because ambiguity is the the name of the game. Babylon 5 asks Who are you and what do you want, Well in it own way, BSG asks those same questions. Both shows constantly challenge the audience demanding much from them and giving more to think about in return.
