So did the execs of TNT east offices back in 1999 ... that and sex ... and hence began the downfall for "Crusade". /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

Blood and boobs, eh? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

The TNT formula. /forums/images/icons/rolleyes.gif

Don't even joke about that kind of thing, folks, especially not in today's environment. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

"Bonie's" ? Perhaps a reference to "bonehead" maneuvers:
<ul type="square">
[*] not re-starting Crusade
[*] not doing Legend of the Rangers as a series of 8 or 13 episodes, and instead just doing one 90 minute pilot
[*] not re-airing the existing Crusade episodes
[/list]

To be able to judge that, we'd have to see your picture. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif If you look anything like the Lyta in your avatar, Woo Hoo! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif /forums/images/icons/smile.gif /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Oops, this is edging closer to NC-17 material. /forums/images/icons/blush.gif

Kingfish, you could have gone straight to the petition...
http://www.petitiononline.com/undertow/petition.html
...instead of that BSG page.

Re: Think Sci-Fi Channel Will Ever Show Crusade Ag

We do that an awful lot, don't we? Dirty little minds turning every forum into the NC-17 forum! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

A question: do they have the NC-17 rating in England? In fact, what kind of rating system do you use over there?

Just curious.

Re: Think Sci-Fi Channel Will Ever Show Crusade Ag

Don't think they have NC-17 in the UK... from what I know, the ratings are something like U (for Universal, I guess?), 12, 15 and 18. But I might be way off with those. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Re: Think Sci-Fi Channel Will Ever Show Crusade Ag

Now that makes sense. To simply make your rating the age of the viewer. U for universal, then 12, 15 and 17.

Hmm. A LOT of growing up must occur between 12 and 15 and 17. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Re: Think Sci-Fi Channel Will Ever Show Crusade Ag

It does make sense though... 12 is still a kid, really. 15 is a teen that can take a lot more. And 18 is an adult - pretty much anything goes. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Re: Think Sci-Fi Channel Will Ever Show Crusade Ag

17 just seems so very young to me. So VERY young. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

But that's becasue I'm an old fart of 37. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Re: Think Sci-Fi Channel Will Ever Show Crusade Ag

It's 18, not 17. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
Although 18 is just as young - there's just the legal boundary between 17 and 18 deciding that 17's a kid and 18's an adult.

Re: Think Sci-Fi Channel Will Ever Show Crusade Ag

Oops. Yes, sorry about that, 18.

The funny thing is in the USA a man can get drafted at 18 years old, and give his life in a war. But he can't drink alcohol until he's 21.

Am I the only one who thinks that's a bit weird?

Oh, and don't they have X-rated movies in other parts of the world? There is a big distinction between R and X in this country. Now there is that weird new rating, too. /forums/images/icons/confused.gif

But I am curious: are we the only country to have "X" movies?

One would hope, but every day I meet another person who makes me wonder whether or not any growing up goes occurs at all between the ages of six and sixty - a least in the case of some people. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Well, give me until 70. Maybe you'll see an improvement then. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Re: Think Sci-Fi Channel Will Ever Show Crusade Ag

The sequence is
U, PG, 12, 15, 18, 18R.

U = Universal. There is Uc = Universal suitable for children (Disney)
PG has a bit of violence or talk about sex.
12 = Spiderman. Small amounts of swearing.
15 has topless women or major violence.
18 is the old X certificate.
18R is hard porn and can only be sold in licensed sex shops.

Babylon 5 episodes vary between PG and 12.

Re: Think Sci-Fi Channel Will Ever Show Crusade Ag

Hi,
There was some sex in Crusade between Lochley and Gideon. In season 5 of B5, Byron and Leta were involved in that way and one episode showed them in the sack. It is sad when shows have to resort to this. We are all grown ups and know what goes on between men and women and DON'T need to be instructed via the TV.

Re: Think Sci-Fi Channel Will Ever Show Crusade Ag

U (Universal)
PG (Parental Guidance)
12
15
18

and then there's all those really bad horror movies that are "banned"

Re: Think Sci-Fi Channel Will Ever Show Crusade Ag

/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Really bad horror doesn't need ratings: it just doesn't get shown! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Thanks, everyone. It sounds like basically the same system.

Well, what we saw between Lyta and Byron (as much as I hated to see Lyta with Byron /forums/images/icons/rolleyes.gif ) served the story. We got to see what Byron saw in her mind. Regarding the shower encounter between Gideon and Lochley, well it was a little contrived, but it was OK. We just didn't need to see those shadows on the frosted door. The sax music was a little heavy, but the ship entering B5 (train entering the tunnel) was humorous.
