Well, to give the TNT promo guys even some defence, they were supposed to become renegades in the second season. The "rangers" bit may come from the early plans jms had, the show being about the rangers.

I guess the promo guys never saw a minute of film, they probably wrote the promo based on some scribblings on a napkin.
