GKarsEye... Solaris... I'd reconsider those comments if I were you. Myriam has considerable experience in dealing with this sort of thing, and as you can see from the following video clip, the result ain't pretty.

To view the clip, make sure you have the DivX 4 codec installed.

(And for those wondering what the heck the clip is, it's from the second episode of Ranma 1/2, with Myriam providing the voice of Akane, the dark-haired girl most prominently featured in the clip.)

Other than Ghost In The Shell, the only anime I've really watched was Ranma 1/2, because a boyfriend introduced it to me. And HE'S the reason people say, "wait a minute, Channe, I thought you hated boys?"

Well, if it's anything similar to what happened to Golden Boy in episode 2, then I'm gonna stay away

Has anyone else here seen Golden Boy? It's quite the humorous series, it's dirty, but there is no actual sexuality involved, mostly because Golden Boy somehow manages to do something incredulously stupid before he gets any.(in episode 2 he was beaten by 20 people until he ended up looking like a.... well, you know what happens to a tomato when you sit on it? kinda like that

)

Ok quick question from the Newbie.

Have we word on if this is a TV movie or a pilot?

If it is a pilot then my hopes lie in the series having character development and plot. JMS showed us in B5 that he could do it.

I'm just so tired of Sci-Fi shows being only about the fight scenes these days. Granted B5 had stellar fight scenes (Any white star battle made me happy) But star trek went to crap and Crusade didn't last more than thirteen episodes, so I hope that this will break the trend.

A potential pilot (or was it "a pilot for a potential series"?). In any case, it seems to be a TV movie that will serve as the pilot if a series is commissioned - depending on the success of the movie.

If no series follows, it would probably be considered a standalone movie? Or perhaps just a failed pilot.

It's right now a TV movie, and as Kribu stated, a potential pilot. I've heard a rumor (that seems to me to make sense from a marketing standpoint) that they're going to wait and see what the ratings are, and if the ratings are good (i.e. meets Dune's 4.0), they'll commission a series.

Right now nothing is under "option," which means that EVERYTHING is up in the air. Nothing is settled, at all, but the fact that Rangers will air on the 19th at 9 pm.

If no series follows, it was just another little peek into a part of the B5 Universe that we'll probably never see again. If Rangers doesn't fly, then this will probably finish the chance of ever having new B5 ever again. No one wants to invest in something that, although was great the first time around, failed twice (yeah, yeah, even though Crusade was ruined by the Suits, it failed twice in biz parlance...)

I'm hoping as much as you for character development! JMS has shown he can do it. He did it once. Although, we have to be wary of the fact that this is definitely a more action-oriented series.

Because, folks, that's where the viewers are... or where the suits THINK the viewers are...

Well, it is a pilot. The reason it's being called a TV Movie is that most pilots are normal length, and are only shown to the suits and possibly a test audience before the decision to order more episodes is taken. If the series is picked up, it's then aired as a normal episode.
