The ancient and wise Sho-Rin is a professional speaker and obsessive linguist. This said, comparisons are necessary, relevant and fun. What spoils them is laying out absolute statements like "B5 is better." or "Trek sucks." These remarks are volatile and become the horse turds in the discussion. They are statements of faith, not fact.
Mature and educated people learn to avoid such absolutes and fish around for well-reasoned opinions. Personally, I have enjoyed B5 more than any one Trek series. Individual characters, stories, relationships, etc. from both B5 and Trek have entertained and enlightened me. Everybody could be so lucky if they learned how to converse rather than merely spout off.
