Why no male nudity?

I think the reason we see more female nudity than male nudity is that most women don't freak out as badly seeing their own sex in the nude or partially nude.
Let's face it, guys, there's a real stigma to you about seeing a naked man anywhere other than a lockerroom or a bathroom, isn't there? You wouldn't want to put up with it in your entertainment.

It's quite weird how common that phenomenon seems to be .. recently, a friend of my sister's who is very interested in anything "queer" (IIRC, she can't quite decide if she is or not ... ) and my sister made me watch an episode of Queer as Folk (the UK version) .. throughout the whole thing, it was like they were expecting me to freak out and have a a heart attack. I guess that I did not must mean that I'm actually gay

Let's face facts guys, the male ego is so fragile that we couldn't bear the thought of our wives/girlfriends comparing our rather pathetic, lived in bodies to those that they see on the screen, so the (generally male) writers of these shows do their utmost to protect us.
Having said that, my wife actually prefers to see guys with some clothes on. She is all for a good pair of legs and a shirtless torso, but the sight of naked male dangly bits on the screen actually turns her off.
Maybe, ultimately, women are just wired differently to men.

Though as far as I know, also very straight women can dislike the look of dangly bits .. it does remind me of one of Jeff's observations on Coupling .. "Oh, wouldn’t that be great... being a lesbian. All the advantages of being a man, but with less embarrassing genitals."
Though getting "fair" levels of nudity is kind of hard.
on upper bodies, a nude man is hardly equal to a nude woman.
on lower bodies, a nude woman is hardly equal to a nude man, unless she's lying spread out on a table
