Casting for Fantastic Four

According to cinescape.com, Jessica Alba is the last of the four to be cast, as the Invisible Woman obviously. The Fantastic Four was my favorite comic book along with X-Men. I hope the FF movie follows in the footsteps of the X-Men movies, but I have my doubts.

The DARK ANGEL actress is the final member of the superhero quartet which includes Ioan Gruffudd as Mr. Fantastic, Chris Evans as the Human Torch, and Michael Chiklis as The Thing. Alba appeared most recently in HONEY and has a part in Robert Rodriguez's SIN CITY.

Ioan Gruffud is far to young to be Reed Richards. Chiklis as The Thing might be ok....

i'm getting 'Catwoman' vibes already...

I think both Gruffud and Alba are too young for the parts. They may also be thinking ahead though and hoping for more movies farther down the road. We can only wait and see.

I think Chiklis as Ben Grimm/The Thing is a very good choice. My only concern is how they're going to tackle The Thing's look, which is going to be a tough sell.

It always struck me how odd it was that "Sue darling" looked so much younger than the apparently-fortysomething Reed Richards, yet they were married. So maybe it won't be SO bad that he's a younger fella in the movie.

Chris Evans as Johnny Storm -- I guess I can see it, although his imdb photo is pretty crappy. It'll be interesting to see how they CGI the Torch!! Fire and water are 2 of the most difficult substances to duplicate.

Jessica "desparate grab at young male viewers" Alba is gonna have to do a damn good job to impress me. Are they going to blonde up her hair? I hope so... a brunette Sue Storm just ain't right...

Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm - I just wonder how much of Michael we're really gonna see in this movie. People are gonna want to see both plenty of the human Ben Grimm, and plenty of the Thing Ben Grimm. His voice isn't exactly what I'd expect out of a giant orange rock monster, so I'm sure they'll do something to it when he does the voice track. I hope they make his transformation into the Thing pretty damn dramatic... it's something that affected Grimm's psyche pretty severely in the comics for quite a while.

On the other hand, blonde hair on Jessica Alba would just look like a dye job anyway. It is so obviously at odds with the rest of her coloring.

That is an improvement on getting special effects to move doors and plants. The clothes disappearing are taken as signifying that she has become invisible.

I can live with it having an X certificate.
