Crusade sex

Actually the episode where Garibaldi didn't sleep with Dodger at Jerry Doyle's request was "Day of the Dead", if I recall correctly. I think G's not sleeping with Dodger in GROPOS was in the original script. Either way, it wasn't a JMS script, since Niel Gaiman wrote "Day of the Dead."

The shower scene was too much like what you would see in the Playboy channel. (Not that I watch it, really ;-) I bet good money that in some point Gideon and Lochley would have done it, but not in that way. Propably it wouldn't been shown all together. If you remeber Ivanova & Talia and Sheridan & Delenn...

Joe, I fairly certain your wrong.

I think part of the reason Doyle asked not to go to bed was his real life involvement with Thompson(I may have my timing wrong). For the story it makes sense to not have sex with Dodger in DoD but not so much in GROPOS.

I didn't find anything on lurkers but galactic gateway says GROPOS.

Everytime I've heard the story it involved GROPOS.

I don't think Doyle's involvement with Thompson in real life would have anything to do with it. They're actors, they kiss and roll around in bed with other actors all the time. It's not as much fun as it looks. Cameras, repeated takes, directions, etc. I doubt that it's particularly erotic. Thompson as an actress would understand that.

Every woman in America was jealous of Vivian Leigh when she got to kiss Clark Gable in Gone With the Wind. She has since said that his breath always smelled of cigars and he was rude and difficult. It was one of her worst acting experiences.

I thought Doyle didn't want to bang Dodger because he felt his character wouldn't "cheat." Peronally, I don't see the problem with him doing her either time. The first time he was single, the second time she was dead. I guess it makes more sense to turn her down the second time because he was involved with Lise. The script probably called for them to get it on in Day of the Dead as a chance for Garibaldi to reclaim the opportunity he lost, but Doyle protested, claiming the Garibaldi wouldn't cheat on Lise.

What I meant about the real life thing is that both Doyle and Tompson were pushing for a Talia-Garabaldi relationship because of their real life relationship. So Garabaldi would want to stay true to Talia.

I remember it being the Gropo episode, too. Not that it really matters. I find it most interesting that JMS would let a cast member alter the script that much. Just shows that really good writing for a show really does involve input from the actors.

I never, once, guessed where Mira Furlan came from, or what happened to her while she and her husband were in Yugoslavia. I see now how Delenn was the perfect character for her to play. I wish there were some way of knowing how much of that part was her, and how much it was just the character.

Anyhow, its interesting to hear how flexible JMS really is.

Shoot, I just took that webpage off my favorites list, and now I want it again. The short story of it is this:
Mira wouldn't adhere to the (unofficial?) rule that said people on one side of the conflict should not fraternize with the other side. Not only is her husband in that category, but so were some of the theaters she insisted upon playing in. She and her husband received very serious death threats, and were forced to flee for their lives from Yugoslavia to the USA.

There was a very moving letter that Mira penned (I forget to whom). Maybe someone still knows the website? It made me tear up something terrible. Makes my complaints look pretty wimpy.

JMS has said several times that he is willing to listen to Anyone on the crew who has an idea for improving the story. If he likes it, he uses it. If it doesn't mess up something he has planned but isn't ready to reveal yet.

JMS is a storyteller. He can recognize a good idea when he hears one.

But, he does limit this to people in Cast & Crew who are commenting on a Script that has already been distributed and is in the process of production.

Having Garibaldi go "Hold on, is this what I want to do?" while Dodger is ripping off his clothes is actually consistent whit Garibaldi's character.

We've heard it said several times that Garibaldi never goes into a situation without having thought out All the possible moves.

Plus, what Garibaldi told Dodger wasn't "NO!".

It was, "Is this the right thing for Us to do?" Garibaldi was thinking in terms of a long term Future relationship. Dodger wasn't even sure she'd still be alive next week.

So is Mira Serbian and her husband Bosnian, or vice versa? Or was it a Christian / Muslim thing?

Delenn's and Sheridan's relationship is the only fictional romance I ever cared about. Maybe part of the reason is because Earth/Minbari aspect is similar to Mira's real life situation, pushing her to give such a fine performance.

By today's standards the shower scene was pretty normal. Neither Gideon nor Lochley had any ties to anyone else. One assumes they were feeling attracted to each other, and when the right moment came in the shower they both said okay

Lochley's morning after reaction was also pretty normal because she was unsure of herself. She also didn't want to get caught up in a long range affair.

As for Garibaldi, the first time he met Dodger he was angling after Talia, if you recall, and when she reappeared in Day of the Dead I think he just wasn't interested.

Oh, and Mira is Croatian. She speaks of the cities Belgrade and Zagreb.

I ask myself, if I had been one of Mira's friends or co-workers, would I have supported her? Knowing that I would possibly (maybe even probably) lose my job for it, and receive death threats myself? I honestly don't know. I've never been in a situation like that, thankfully.

I'm just so glad Mira and her husband got out. And not only for selfish, B5-related, reasons. And I'm glad she stood up and said that this is what she believes, and she will not budge on the topic. That takes real bravery.

Now I have to get back to work.

Dean just loves her and I understand why.

wanted to add my opinion cause i like adding my opinion. i thought the sex scene(lochley/gideon) was okay but it was kind of like the way they segue into sex in porno flicks..just look at each other and instant naked! i actually found their flirtation more fun!

i found the dance with max and dureena a heck of a lot more exciting and max' tough defense of his ex was very sexy... why she let him get away i dont know (im a max addict.. can you tell?)

i read a lot of silly fanfic and write a lot of silly fanfic so all the possibilities have been explored but i still dont like sex for sex sake... except in real life of course.

Well, as has previously been posted, people who have been shot at (or are Being shot at sometimes) tend to do exactly that sort of thing.

Read some of the memoirs written in London during the Nazi Blitz. People hiding in the Bomb Shelters during the bombing raids were frequently seen having sex. Often with total strangers.

One joke that was quoted at the time:
"You never know what's going to happen when you're in the shelters. You might be blasted into Maternity at any moment."
